Dr. Capito is the CSRA’s premier Shoulder & Elbow Specialist. Dr. Capito believes in cultivating a patient-centered, hospitality focused experience from your first visit to your full recovery. Fellowship trained at Brown University, he has spent time working with and learning from experts from around the world. He treats patients of all ages for any type of shoulder and elbow condition. As one of the highest volume specialists in Georgia and South Carolina, he performs over 400 shoulder and elbow surgeries a year, with approximately 200 total shoulder replacements (anatomic and reverse).
Dr. Capito specializes in the newest advances in arthroscopic surgery for tendon repair and instability, fracture management, nerve decompression, and total joint replacement of the shoulder and elbow. He is nationally recognized and has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, and one of the team of experts who create the national Shoulder and Elbow Exam.
Dr. Capito is involved with several companies helping to better design surgical instrumentation and implants, creating instructional videos and conducting courses to help train other surgeons in specific techniques related to shoulder and elbow surgery. He also performs Independent Medical Exams and second opinion services for patients with shoulder and elbow conditions resulting from personal injury, complications of previous surgery, and workers’ compensation claims.
He and his wife were raised in Augusta. Outside of the office, they enjoy traveling with their daughter, playing music, and anything involving the lake, beach, or the mountains.
